Fast dry alkyd enamel
ADVANTAGES
* Available as a base colorant system with high gloss and semi-gloss bases.
* Can be tinted in a wide range of solid and metallic colors.
USES
For the finishing of metal articles such as: chairs, cabinets, heating system
where an air drying system is required.
STORAGE
May be stored for a minimum of 12 months in its original unopened container at
a temperature below 35°C (95°F).
RESTRICTIONS
* Formulated for interior use.
* Limited exterior performance.
* Do not force dry at a temperature above 65°C (149°F).

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DRY FILM
Tests performed on Bonderite 1000 treated steel at a dry film
thickness of 1 mil (25 microns), a temperature of 25°C (77°F)
and a relative humidity of 50%.
Adhesion to the substrate: 100% - 5B (ASTM D-
3359B)
Hardness: HB minimum (ASTM D- 3363)

CHARACTERISTICS (of the liquid)
Viscosity delivered at 25°C (77°F): 55±10 sec. Ford #4
(140 to 240 cps)
Solids/poids (ASTM D-4909): 34±2%
Solids/volume (ASTM D-4909): 27±1%
VOC: 630 g/litre (5.25 lbs/US gal.)
Spreading rate (1): 10.6 m²/litre (433 ft2/US gal.)
(1) Calculation based on minimum volume solids at a dry film thickness of
1 mil (25 microns).
SURFACE PREPARATION
* Surface must be clean, dry and free of soot, grease or oil.
* For better adhesion, ferrous and non-ferrous metals must be
chemically treated with an iron or zinc phosphate (3 stages
minimum recommended).
* For superior corrosion resistance, use a primer of 525 line.
MIX AND DILUTION
* Tint with colorants of 413 line (maximum 15% by volume for neutral
bases and 10% by volume for white bases).
* Dilute 20 to 40% by volume using the:
. 599-011 (medium evaporation)
or:
. 599-012 (fast evaporation)
METHOD OF APPLICATION
* Conventional hot or cold spray
* Airless spray
* H.V.L.P.
Application recommendations:
* Normal application temperature: 15-30°C (59-86°F).
* Sand in between coats to improve the adhesion.
* Dry film thickness: 1 mil (25 microns).
DRYING SCHEDULE
Tests performed at a wet film thickness of 3 mils (75 microns) and a
temperature of 25°C (77°F).
Air dry
dust-free 5 minutes
tack-free 8-10 minutes
touch free 30-40 minutes
through dry 18 hours
recoat time before 60 minutes or after 72 hours
(in between, wrinkling may occur)
CLEAN UP
Clean the equipment immediately after use with the recommended
reducer or with the lacquer thinner 300-011 or an equivalent.
