Quick Drying Metal Primer
This primer is suitable for use on ferrous metal (iron and steel) and primes and undercoats in one. It prevents rust on new metal and seals any existing rust. Overcoatable in six hours it saves you both time and money!
All-Purpose Primer has been specially formulated to prime most surfaces prior to further painting. It's ideal for hard and soft woods, chipboard, plywood, iron, steel, non-ferrous metals and old plaster, and contains an anti-corrosive pigment to protect iron and steel.
The foundation for successful painting.
Interior and exterior use
For wood, metal and plaster
Anti corrosive protection
Preparation
First ensure the surface to be primed is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease and oil. If you are preparing wood or plaster, remove loose/flaking paint, clean to a bare surface and sand smooth. Treat any knots or resinous wood with Blackfriar Patent Knotting and allow to dry before applying Blackfriar All-Purpose Primer. If preparing iron and steel, remove any rust and mill scale with a wire brush, clean back to a bright surface, and prime immediately.
Application
Before use, stir well with a broad stirrer. If using on wood, apply 1 coat of Blackfriar All-Purpose Primer with a brush, working well into the grain. On metal, apply 1 coat by brush or roller, except on areas of heavy corrosion, where 2 coats are recommended after thorough preparation. On old, dry plaster and concrete etc., if surface is absorbent, the primer may be thinned with up to 10% white spirit. On new plaster, due to the high alkalinity of this surface, we recommend the use of Blackfriar Alkali-Resisting Primer Sealer.
COVERING CAPACITY 1 litre covers approximately 13 square meters, depending on the porosity of the surface.
DRYING TIME 3-4 hours in good conditions. Allow to dry overnight between coats.
CLEAN UP Remove as much product from application equipment as possible before washing with Blackfriar Brush Cleaner or white spirit. Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. |
