General Description
This product is designed for the removal of peeling oil or latex
stain, varnish, and clear-coat wood finishes. It will also remove
damaged and discolored wood fiber from all exterior wood
surfaces: decking, siding, shingles and furniture. Restores
wood to its natural tone and prepares the surface for recoating.

Limitations:
• Do not apply when air and surface temperatures are
below 50° F (10° C).
• REMOVE Finish Remover may darken certain wood types
during application. If desired, use BRIGHTEN Brightener
& Neutralizer (317) to restore wood color back to its
natural appearance.

Product Information
Surface Preparation
Project surfaces may be damp or dry. Do not apply if surface temperature
is below 50° F (10° C). Protect adjacent surfaces; cover with plastic and/or
tape off any areas not being stripped. Pre-wet and/or cover vegetation;
rinsing residue will not harm plants or roots. Exposure to concentrate may
burn foliage.
It is recommended that you test product performance in an inconspicuous
area prior to use.
PRIOR TO APPLICATION: Determine proper dilution following the chart
below. Test a small, inconspicuous area and allow to dry before general
use. Before and after application, liberally spray surrounding plants and
vegetation with water. Avoid contact with metal, lawn furniture and fabric.
If necessary, protect adjacent surfaces with plastic.
MIXING: HONEST JOY® REMOVE Finish Remover is a concentrate.
This container makes up to 5 gallons of product.
DO NOT MIX CLEANER IN METAL CONTAINERS. NEVER MIX OR USE
WITH OTHER CLEANERS OR CHEMICALS.
NOTICE: Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may
generate dust or fumes which contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or
fumes may cause adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant
women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances
requires the use of proper protective equipment, such as a properly fitted
respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. For

Application
1. Apply product liberally to surface with plastic garden sprayer, brush or
roller. 2. Allow solution to stand for 10-30 minutes, depending on age and
type of finish to be removed. 3. Agitate with stiff bristle brush in direction
of wood grain and rinse using a garden hose with nozzle or power
washer. 4. Neutralize surface with HONEST JOY® BRIGHTEN
Brightener & Neutralizer (317) following label directions. 5. Allow to dry
thoroughly. Note: When applying to vertical surfaces, apply from bottom
to top.
Mixing
Mix according to the instructions above.
CLEAN UP: Clean equipment with warm, soapy water.
DISPOSAL: USE COMPLETELY OR DISPOSE OF PROPERLY. Local
disposal requirements vary; consult your sanitation department or
state-designated environmental agency on disposal options.
Contains: Sodium Hydroxide and Sodium Metasilicate
CORROSIVE. CAUSES SEVERE BURNS TO EYES AND SKIN. MAY BE
FATAL IF SWALLOWED. Contact with eyes may cause severe burns with
possible corneal damage and blindness. Contact with skin may cause
chemical burns or dermatitis. Vapors and mist may cause irritation to eyes
and respiratory tract. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal corrosion, vomiting,
diarrhea, shock or death.
Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors, spray mist
or sanding dust. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact
with skin. Wear eye protection or face shield. Wear butyl gloves,
impervious apron, boots and other clothing if needed to prevent contact. If
spraying (only outdoors), use a NIOSH approved respirator. If you experience
eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh air or wear a
properly fitted vapor/particulate NIOSH approved respirator during application,
sanding and clean up. Follow respirator manufacturer’s directions
for use. DO NOT MIX OR USE with other household cleaners or chemicals.
Close container after each use. Wash thoroughly with soap and
water after each use. Exercise caution when working on surfaces that are
wet, especially from cleaner. Wet surfaces are extremely slippery.
FIRST AID: In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for 30
minutes while lifting upper and lower lids. In case of skin contact, wash
with soap and water immediately, remove contaminated clothing and launder
before reuse. If affected by inhalation of vapors or spray mist, remove
to fresh air. If ingested and victim is conscious, give one glass of water or
milk to dilute. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Never give anything by mouth
to an unconscious or convulsing victim. In all cases of exposure, call a
physician immediately.
SPILL - Absorb with inert material and dispose of as specified under
“DISPOSAL”.
